GAF

Est. 1886

North America's largest roofing manufacturer

Headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey

GAF has been a roofing pioneer since 1886, when it introduced ready-to-lay asphalt roofing. Today it's North America's largest roofing and waterproofing manufacturer, known for the #1-selling shingle in North America — the Timberline HDZ. Acute Roofing is a GAF Certified Plus™ installer, so your roof qualifies for the GAF Silver Pledge™ limited warranty.

Why homeowners choose it

Built for wind

LayerLock® technology and the StrikeZone® nailing area help the shingle and fastening system work together. Eligible installations can qualify for GAF's WindProven™ limited wind warranty when the required GAF accessories are used.

Choices at every level

From dependable Timberline architectural shingles to impact-resistant and designer profiles, GAF offers clear upgrades in appearance and performance without forcing every homeowner into the same package.

A matched roof system

GAF shingles, starter strips, leak barriers, deck protection, ridge caps, and ventilation are designed to work together instead of mixing unrelated components.

Missouri-ready options

Impact-resistant AS II shingles, properly designed attic ventilation, and enhanced wind coverage are practical choices for hail, heat, humidity, and fast-moving Midwest storms.

Strong curb appeal

Dimensional shadow lines, blended granules, and designer profiles create more depth than basic three-tab roofing and can complement brick, stone, or modern siding.

Certified installation

Acute Roofing can install and register an eligible complete GAF system under the Silver Pledge™ limited warranty as a GAF Certified Plus™ contractor.

Beyond the surface

A complete system

Long-term performance depends on the materials behind the visible roof or siding, plus careful installation at every opening, edge, and transition.

Leak barrier

Self-adhering protection is installed at vulnerable areas such as valleys, eaves, roof-to-wall transitions, and penetrations where wind-driven rain and ice can enter.

Roof deck protection

A water-shedding layer covers the roof deck beneath the shingles and helps protect the home during installation and throughout the roof's service life.

Starter strips

Factory-made starter shingles provide the correct sealant line and fastening base along eaves and rakes, where wind uplift begins.

Ridge cap shingles

Purpose-built ridge caps finish the roof's peaks and hips with a cleaner appearance and proper protection than improvised field-cut shingles.

Attic ventilation

Balanced intake and exhaust ventilation helps control trapped heat and moisture, protecting the roof deck and improving year-round attic performance.

Flashings and details

New metal at walls, chimneys, skylights, plumbing vents, and valleys is integrated with the roofing layers instead of relying on surface caulk.

Warranties

GAF Silver Pledge™ Limited Warranty

The warranty we offer on GAF systems as a GAF Certified Plus™ contractor. It covers 100% of the cost of GAF manufacturing defects in materials for the first 50 years, including tear-off and disposal, and adds 20 years of workmanship coverage on the installation itself.

What Silver Pledge requires

A qualifying GAF Timberline® shingle plus at least 3 qualifying GAF accessories — leak barrier, roof deck protection, starter strip, ridge cap, or attic ventilation — installed as a complete GAF roofing system by a GAF Certified Plus contractor.

Transferable coverage

The Silver Pledge warranty can be transferred once to a new owner within the first 20 years, which is a real selling point if you list your home after a new roof.

Technology & Certifications

GAF Certified Plus™

Acute Roofing's installer certification. GAF Certified Plus contractors are factory-trained, carry the proper licensing, insurance, and workers' comp GAF requires, and are authorized to offer the GAF Silver Pledge™ limited warranty on complete GAF roofing systems. It's the tier that qualifies your roof for enhanced, transferable manufacturer coverage.

What Certified Plus verifies

State licensing, general liability insurance, and workers' compensation coverage — all verified directly by GAF before a contractor earns the Certified Plus designation.

Why it matters for your roof

Only a GAF Certified Plus contractor can register your roof for the Silver Pledge warranty, which adds up to 20 years of workmanship coverage on top of 50 years of material defect coverage.

Colors & Finishes

Natural blends

Weathered wood, charcoal, pewter, and bark-inspired blends pair easily with brick and traditional Missouri homes.

High-definition contrast

Timberline UHDZ and designer lines use deeper shadowing and larger patterns for homeowners who want the roof to be a visible architectural feature.

Common Questions

Which GAF shingle is right for my home?

Timberline HDZ is the dependable starting point for most homes. UHDZ adds more visual depth, AS II prioritizes impact resistance, and designer lines create a slate or shake appearance. We compare budget, roof pitch, neighborhood style, and storm exposure before recommending one.

What makes a GAF roof a complete system?

The visible shingles are only one layer. A complete system also uses compatible deck protection, leak barrier, starter strips, ridge caps, ventilation, and correctly integrated flashings. Using the required GAF components is also important for Silver Pledge eligibility.

Does the Silver Pledge cover workmanship?

Yes. On an eligible system installed and registered by a GAF Certified Plus contractor, the Silver Pledge limited warranty includes 20 years of workmanship coverage in addition to enhanced manufacturing-defect coverage. Final terms come from the current GAF warranty document.

Are impact-resistant shingles hail-proof?

No shingle is hail-proof. Impact-resistant shingles are designed and tested to better withstand impact, but damage can still occur in a severe storm. We can explain the product rating and help document the roof after a weather event.

Can you match a GAF shingle to my exterior?

Yes. We compare samples against your brick, stone, siding, trim, and gutters in natural light. The goal is a coordinated exterior, not simply choosing a color from a screen.
