TAMKO
Est. 1944Family-owned since 1944 — built in Joplin, Missouri
Headquartered in Joplin, Missouri
TAMKO was founded in 1944 in Joplin, Missouri — right here in our home state. The name stands for Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma, its original sales territory. Three generations of family ownership later, TAMKO is a vertically integrated, independent manufacturer known for the Heritage® shingle line and innovative TriShield™ technology. As a local Missouri company, we're proud to install TAMKO products from a Missouri-born brand.
Why homeowners choose it
Missouri roots
TAMKO began in Joplin and has spent decades developing asphalt roofing for the same heat, wind, hail, and seasonal swings our local homes experience.
Performance upgrades
The Proline family offers reinforced nailing areas, impact-rated options, and enhanced wind coverage for homeowners who want more than a standard architectural shingle.
Distinct color blends
Heritage shingles use laminated construction and varied granule blends to create depth, while APEX Color® selections offer richer contrast across the roof plane.
Complete-system coverage
Qualifying TAMKO shingles, underlayment, starter, and hip-and-ridge products can be combined for Edge® Platinum limited warranty eligibility.
Repairable and familiar
Asphalt shingles remain a practical roofing choice because qualified local crews understand the system and individual storm-damaged areas can often be evaluated without replacing unrelated exterior materials.
Clear product tiers
We can compare Heritage, Titan XT, and StormFighter options side by side so you understand where added cost improves appearance, impact performance, or wind protection.

Beyond the surface
A complete system
Long-term performance depends on the materials behind the visible roof or siding, plus careful installation at every opening, edge, and transition.
Underlayment
A continuous secondary water-shedding layer protects the decking beneath the shingles and helps manage wind-driven rain.
Ice and water protection
Self-adhering membrane reinforces valleys, eaves, walls, and penetrations—the roof areas most likely to experience concentrated water.
Starter shingles
A manufactured starter course creates a straight edge and a reliable seal along eaves and rakes to resist wind uplift.
Hip and ridge
Matched cap shingles protect roof peaks and hips while carrying the selected color and dimensional profile through the finished roof.
Ventilation
Balanced soffit intake and ridge or exhaust ventilation helps remove excess attic heat and moisture without depending on shingles alone.
Detail workmanship
Proper valleys, step flashing, pipe boots, wall transitions, and fastener placement are essential to both water performance and warranty compliance.

Common Questions
What is the difference between Heritage and Titan XT?
Heritage is TAMKO's flagship architectural shingle and a strong value for many homes. Titan XT is a performance upgrade with a reinforced AnchorLock nailing zone, Class 3 impact rating, and eligibility for higher wind coverage when installed to TAMKO requirements.
When should I consider StormFighter IR?
StormFighter is worth discussing when hail performance is a priority. We can compare its impact classification, available colors, cost, and any insurance considerations against Heritage and Titan XT for your property.
What does Edge Platinum add?
On an eligible complete TAMKO system, Edge Platinum extends the non-prorated Full Start period and adds 20 years of contractor workmanship coverage. We confirm the selected products qualify and register the completed roof under the current program terms.
Can a new TAMKO roof improve attic comfort?
Shingles alone do not cool an attic, but a roof replacement is the right time to evaluate intake and exhaust ventilation. Correct airflow can reduce trapped heat and moisture and support the life of the roof deck and roofing system.
How do I compare TAMKO colors?
We look at full-size samples outdoors at different times of day and compare them with the home's permanent features. Brick and stone undertones matter more than trying to match a small digital swatch.
